'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Men in Black for Shrewsbury

Russell Booth takes charge of Saturday's game between the promotion rivals in what is only his third game of the season.

It is the first time that he taken charge of a Bradford City fixture since their relegation to League Two and the first time he has officiated at Valley Parade since a 1-1 draw with Swindon in February 2006.

And it's draws that have very much been the order of the day whenever Russell Booth has been present for the Bantams. Three matches, three draws. One at home, two away.

On Sunday he refereed the Wycombe - Gillingham clash that ended in a 1-1 draw and his only other game before that was a 2-1 away victory for Burnley in their game with Preston in the Championship. He's clearly a referee to be entrusted with responsibility.

Hopefully he can stamp his authority on the game early on and not fall foul of the kind of spoiler tactics employed by Chester a couple of matches ago but also apply the rules of the game in a more equitable and legitimate way than his colleague did in the victory over Morecambe where some of the challenges were crudely agricultural to say the least (Adebayor received a second yellow for far less than some of the things that went on on Sunday afternoon)

To that end he will be asssited by P E Curry and N A Yates with Fourth Official duties taken care of by D Handley
