'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Todd nets third signing

Darlington centre back Matt Clarke has finally completed a move to Valley Parade.

The 25-year-old, who was out of contract with the Quakers, has penned a two-year deal.

Clarke, who began his career at Halifax, was first linked with the Bantams two years ago and manager Colin Todd is delighted to have finally got his man.

Todd told the Telegraph & Argus: 'He is a very aggressive and disciplined player. He is tall but also has a lot of pace and he is similar to Damion Stewart.'

Clarke replaces QPR-bound Stewart in the City squad, providing competition for first choice centre backs David Wetherall and Mark Bower.

Leeds-born Clarke, who played over 150 games for Darlington said: 'Bradford City are a big club and I am lucky to be here. It is a challenge I am going to relish.'

Meanwhile City winger Bobby Petta is in Australia for talks with Queensland roar. He still has a year of his contract to run with the Bantams but has been told he can find a new club.

Going great guns now then. Getting them all signed up before the transfer merry go round gathers pace.
