Bradford kicked-off the 2012/13 season with a 1-0 upset victory of Notts County in the Capital One Cup tie on Saturday.
Phil Parkinson knows it was "a tough game" but thought The Bantams offered a good attacking threat against their league one opponent.
One man in particular came in for some praise as Matt Duke's saves proved crucial: 'it was a tough game - Notts County are a good side and have a good squad this season and I thought the lads stuck to the jobs we asked them to do very well and we always looked dangerous going forward.
'Matt Duke was terrific. He made some important saves, particularly just before the break when we were really just waiting for the half to end. But I thought the whole back four were excellent and when we went forward the attacking players really threatened every time.'
The drawback for Parkinson was that the game wasn't won "inside 90 minutes" but thought the showing, and fitness seen, proved that "pre-season has gone well."
A win is a win and this win will give the club a boost ahead of the opening league two game: 'it's always good to win and winning the first game of the season is massive. Getting out of this league is the main aim this season but winning breeds confidence whatever the competition and understanding what it takes to win can only help going forward.'
Now to see if Bradford can build on this win...
