Bradford beaten by Gills
Result: Gillingham 3-1 Bradford
Saturday was not the way that Phil Parkinson, or any Bradford fans, would have wanted (or even expected) the 2012/13 season to start at Priestfield!
A goalless first half was on the cards but just before the break Danny Kedwell (43) struck to send Gillingham in one-nil up. One soon became two early in the second half when Kedwell (54) scored again, this time from the penalty spot.
Bradford had hopes of a comeback when Nahki Wells (62) kept his nerve to convert his own penalty but The Bantams could not force an equaliser... In fact Myles Weston (88) rounded off a 3-1 Gills win with a late goal.

Had Bradford managed to go into the half time break at nil-nil Parkinson would have been satisfied and perhaps his team talk could have seen a different outcome?
That was not the case though so The Bantams have to accept this defeat, move on quickly and look to put it right in midweek.
