'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Parkinson - We understood what was required

Phil Parkinson wanted his Bradford side to "exploit" AFC Wimbledon's weaknesses at the weekend, and they certainly did that.

Having seen The Dons heavily beaten the previous game Parkinson knew how The Bantams could hurt them again, and they did with a 5-1 win: 'We understood what was required.

'Wimbledon had suffered a heavy defeat and we knew they would come here committed, but also if a team has conceded goals like they did at Burton we knew there would be vulnerability in the side. We needed to exploit that, which we did.'

Not only was it the "defensive vulnerability" of Wimbledon that helped Bradford it was the attacking players that they have, and when they attack the way they did in the first half most teams will find that tough.

The Bradford boss was a little disappointed by the second half showing though but knows his side are more than capable of repeating what they did on Saturday: 'Some of our attacking play was of the highest order and when you have players like Kyel Reid, Nahki Wells and James Hanson in your side there is always a chance of creating opportunities.

'It was slightly flat in the second half after we led 5-1 at half time and with the injury to the Wimbledon player, but we still had chances to score.

'Football is all about putting the ball in the net and we have players to do that.'
