'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The waiting game

The seriousness of Jon McLaughlin's injury isn't yet known by Bradford, with it "too early" to know.

When making a save the keeper is believed to have damaged his hip which Phil Parkinson, as he told the official website, is getting it checked out but not sure how good or back the news will be: 'Jon's damaged his side - we're not too sure how bad that is at this stage. We'll obviously have to get him checked out with Matt.'

McLaughlin's injury saw Matt Duke brought on, and the Bradford boss knows he'll have no problems calling on the veteran if needed, with the former Hull man unlucky to have lost his place anyway: 'Dukey's come on and done fine though, we'd have no problems if he were to be involved on Saturday.

'I must actually give a special mention to Dukey. He started the season really well but I just took the decision to bring Jon in at Accrington. He took that decision like a man. He has trained like a demon in training every day.'

It's always good to have competition among the keepers, hopefully the injury to McLaughlin isn't too bad but if it keeps him out for a while this gives Duke his chance to stake his claim to be the no.1 again, with his rival them having to "train like a demon" himself to dislodge him!
