Windass bid rejected

The Bantams had to fend off another move from Wigan for Dean Windass just five hours before the transfer window shut last week.

Chairman Julian Rhodes told the Telegraph & Argus he had rejected the offer, believed to be £350,000 up front with a further £150,000 providing Wigan survive in the Premiership, out of hand.

A year ago, the club were happy to leave the final decision to Windass who decided to stay put and not team up again with Paul Jewell who brought him to Valley Parade for his first spell.

The news will come as a major boost to City fans who have made a promising start to the season with Windass already amongst the goals.

Nice once City! It's a pretty decent price for a 37-year-old but he's such an influence at VP we had to reject it. It shows the club are determined to get out of this division.

Wigan are clearly persistent. Will they come in again for Deano in the transfer window?

Deano will be peeved not to have even been told about the offer. If City are not in the promotion frame come January I think he may finally go.

he's excellent for Bradford but I think he's a little over the hill for the premiership. I personally think you should of taken the money and brought in a few younger players.

if hes worth £500,000 and hes 37 he must be good, i think if your that old and you move to a premiership team i doubt he would have goten many games at all and he will probably retire next season.
