'If It's Football, It's Vital'

BCAFC - Former Player of The Year Rejoins Bantams

Andy Gray has returned to Valley Parade 8 years after leaving the club where he made his name.

Its has been rumoured for 2 weeks that Phil Parkinson was seeking target man to challenge James Hanson for the starting spot. Hanson has been out of form and his record in fromt of gaol is a concern. I thought Hanson had a good night last night, however again not finding the net.

It was the 17th of August 2002 when Gray netted his first goal in City shirt, he netted in the last minute of a 2-1 defeat at Stoke city. Gray went on to score 20 goals in 77 appearences for the Bantams before joining up with Neil Warnock at Sheffield United, Warnock would later take Gray to Elland Road.

Gray rejected City in the Summer in favour of our most fierce rivals, this does stick in my thought. Though I do feel the experience of Gray and completion for places could help with our promotion push.

I do feel he will have to work for his place, Parkinson does think alot of Hanson and rightly so Gray should earn his place.

Parkinson told the Official Site:
I'm delighted to have brought Andy into the football club.'
'We've tried to sign him before in the summer, and we're really pleased we have him here now.
'It will be good for the lads to see a fresh face around the training ground. Andy will bring a lot to the squad and help support the current strikers we have here already.
'James (Hanson), Nahki (Wells) and Alan (Connell) have been doing most of the work up top for us this season, and we just felt that we needed some extra up there to help them out.
'Andy's attributes as a striker ensures he will bring a lot to the table and I'm sure he'll make a great addition.'
