Bradford City Vs Gillingham

The Gills arrived at valley parade 4 points from top of the league knowing with a win they would only be a point below Port Vale who topped the league with 59 points.

Bradford started the game well early on with good build up play which Zavon Hines just couldn't finish but forced a corner by Gillingham keeper Stuart Nelson. Joe Martin then gives Bradford an early scare with a shot just outside the box fizzing into Matt Dukes hands. City get a well deserved corner as Zavon Hines half volley is tipped over by Stuart Nelson. Kyel Reid chases a long ball from Michael Nelsen but can't get onto the end of it. Semi-final hero James Hanson then misses an excellent opportunity with his header whiz zing pass Nelsons goal. Bradford skipper Gary jones has a low driven shot which Nelson can only parry it out but Hanson heads it over the bar. Kyel reids low cross pass is fired into the box and Adam Barret nearly puts it into his own goal.

Half time Bradford city 0 - 0 Gillingham town.

City do well again early on with a well worked Kyel Reid cross firing in to the Bradford box but no one is there to finish. Andy Frampton then drills a low free kick into the box but skims Dukes goal. Nahki Wells breaks through the Gillingham defence however Matt Fish puts a last minute tackle in to prevent Bradford top scorer firing home. GOAL!!! A confusement between Nelsen and Duke causes Cody McDonald stealing the ball from inbetween the two and tapping into an empty goal. Bradford try reply instantly but Gary Jones long distance shot is saved by Stuart Nelson. Chris Whelpdale then nearly double the Gills lead with a stinging volley which Duke can tip over the bar. Kyel Reid does some brilliant work down the left wing and crosses the ball onto James hanson who misses a point blanc header , James should of finished that for definate.
