New Bradford Deal For Bates

Phil Parkinson needed to make a decision on Matthew Bates, and what his Bradford future would be, and he has.

Bates will now be staying with the Bantams until the end of the season.

The former Middlesbrough defender, who can also play in midfield, was snapped up on a short term deal as a free agent in October. Parkinson was undecided what to do with the 27-year-old earlier this week but has decided that he's worthy of a place in his squad and a new deal has been signed.

Will Bates be part of the side that faces Sheffield United on Saturday? He'll be in the squad you'd think but if it'll be the starting XI is another matter as Bradford look for a first league one win in almost two-months.
