Darby's Magnificent Seven

Darby's Magnificent Seven

Stephen Darby was the winner of a 'magnificent seven' awards at the Bradford end of season award ceremony on Tuesday.

Among the awards that Darby, who has had a great season with the Bantams, won was the Telegraph & Argus/JCT600 Player of the Year.

The official website reports that his Players' Player of the Year win saw him voted by every single member of the Bradford squad, which is quite incredible!

Phil Parkinson had nothing but praise for the former Liverpool defender with him saying that he 'deserved every accolade coming his way.'

Darby himself couldn't quite believe the amount of awards that he won but was 'very proud' of his achievements and thanked everyone for their support.

He was quoted on the official website as saying: 'I am so proud to have received all of these awards tonight (Tuesday). I could never have expected this at the start of this evening. I would like to give a massive thank you to all of the fans who chose me for these awards and for all of the great support we have received throughout this season.

'We have some really great players here in this squad and they have all helped me to receive these awards tonight. I couldn't have done any of this without them. To be picked ahead of all of the other great players we have here at the club really does mean a lot to me.

'It is extra special to be selected by the rest of the lads and the fans for these awards. This is a very proud night for me.'
