McArdle In Team Of The Week (9/5/17)

McArdle In Team Of The Week (9/5/17)

Bradford City are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week's action.

The performance by Rory McArdle in the scoreless draw with Fleetwood Town at the weekend at Highbury Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we'll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why McArdle was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice - the FL blurb read.

'The big man for the big moment, McArdle scored the first goal of this season`s Play-Offs, towering home to give Bradford City a one-goal advantage over Fleetwood Town. In the second leg, McArdle stood tall at the back to deny the Cod Army, and the Bantams are on their way to Wembley for a shot at Sky Bet League One promotion.'

It's always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to McArdle for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course taking the aggregate win to reach Wembley in the Play Offs.

Full Team:

James McKeown (Grimsby Town), Joe Bennett (Cardiff City), Rory McArdle (Bradford City), Michael Morrison (Birmingham City), DeAndre Yedlin (Newcastle United), Tarique Fosu (Colchester United), Wes Hoolahan (Norwich City), Kal Naismith (Portsmouth), Steve Morison (Millwall), Chris Dagnall (Crewe Alexandra), Britt Assombalonga (Nottingham Forest).

Manager - Mike Flynn (Newport County).
