Newcastle Winger In On Loan
Having joined Bradford on loan in January, after a half-season deal at Luton before that, Newcastle have agreed to Alex Gilliead's return to Valley Parade for the upcoming campaign, according to the Chronicle Live.
Well, not the upcoming campaign in fact as the initial loan spell would only keep Gilliead at City until January.
Newcastle had been mulling over the prospect of letting Gilliead, 21, return to Valley Parade this season on a season-long deal before it was agreed a spell until January would give the Premier League side the best chance of assessing his progress.
Once January arrives Newcastle could look at alternative options, which they had with Bradford when his loan at Luton was ended and he stepped up from League Two to League One - a potential step up to the Championship could be sought?
Gilliead is 'still keen to make it at Newcastle and his latest loan instalment could well be another stepping stone to him achieving success on Tyneside,' said the Chronicle Live.
His 'great rapport' with Bradford boss Stuart McCall and Greg Abbott has apparently helped make this deal possible, which hasn't been officially confirmed as yet despite the claims he's trained with City this week.
