A Lot More To Come In Forward Areas

A Lot More To Come In Forward Areas

Stuart McCall has been pleased with the impact made by summer signings Omari Patrick and Dominic Poleon but the Bradford boss, who has Shay McCartan fit again, feels there's more to come from the forwards.

McCartan sat out the League Cup defeat against Doncaster due to a tight hamstring. However, this was more of a precautionary measure than anything else and the Northern Irish international has since returned to training so should be involved at Gillingham this afternoon.

The boss told the Official Website: 'Shay has trained today (Thursday) and he was fine. He missed Tuesday, but he is fully fit once again now to train with us and to travel this weekend.'

Despite his pleasure with the form show by Patrick and Poleon along with the fact Alex Jones is now up and running along with Paul Taylor being involved too, McCall is looking forward to Charlie Wyke's return to add to his attacking options.

McCall said: 'There is definitely a lot more to come from us in forward areas. Following on from Saturday, I thought Omari (Patrick) had another strong game on Tuesday night. Dom (Poleon) was strong throughout, showed a lot of power and pace, and got a terrific goal.'

Adding: '(Alex) Jonesy got his first goal of the season - that will be good for his confidence - and we obviously got Paul Taylor back on the pitch as well. Charlie Wyke is also getting closer, we are hopefully he can join in with training at some point next week. He has been upping his work with the physios.'

Bradford head to Priestfield without any 'new knocks.' However, captain Romain Vincelot has had a three match ban confirmed following his sending off against Doncaster on Tuesday.

A straight red card for the midfielder will see him sit out this afternoon's game at Gillingham along with the League One meetings against Blackburn and Walsall to follow.

Providing he's selected Tony McMahon has been confirmed as City's stand in captain in Vincelot's absence.
