Strong Blackburn Challenge Expected

Strong Blackburn Challenge Expected

Stuart McCall is expecting a strong challenge from Blackburn both in terms of the task facing Bradford on Saturday and the finishing position he anticipates Rovers being in at the end of the League One campaign.

Bradford will welcome Blackburn, beaten at Southend to start and again at Ewood Park by Doncaster last Saturday, to Valley Parade with a 100% record.

Obviously, McCall will hope City can maintain this unbeaten record but the boss has told the Official Website he 'expects a strong challenge' against a Blackburn side he feels will be there or thereabouts when it comes to promotion.

'No-one should be fooled by the table at this very early stage of the season. Although we have won two and Blackburn have lost two, we are expecting a strong challenge this Saturday,' said McCall.

Adding: 'Blackburn have one of the strongest squads in the division, if not the strongest overall, in terms of depth, talent and quality. I have no doubt they will be right at the very top end of the division come the end of the season.'

Despite winning both games in League One so far, suffering only a League Cup defeat, McCall once again voiced his opinion that City still have room for much improvement.

The more the Bantams gel the more progress and improvement he would expect - beginning on Saturday.

'Although we have managed to get maximum points from our opening two games, we know we still have plenty of room for improvement. As we gel as a team, we are constantly looking for progression and improvement. The aim is certainly to look for that progression and improvement on Saturday - the game is certainly one to relish and look forward to.'

Charlie Wyke has returned to the squad for training, which could increase McCall's attacking options.

Heading into this game City recorded a friendly win over Wigan with the boss also happy with what he's seen on the training ground this week too.

McCall finished: 'We've had a good week on the training pitch so far, while a number of the lads got some game-time in a friendly at Wigan on Tuesday. It is also looking healthier on the injury front. Charlie Wyke has managed to join the group for training this week.'
