Delight At Last Gasp Oxford Draw

Delight At Last Gasp Oxford Draw

Having seen a lead lost, Bradford were set for a defeat at Oxford until a dramatic added time equaliser from Romain Vincelot rescued a point in a 2-2 draw at the Kassam Stadium.

Omari Patrick curled an effort into the top corner to ensure City, perhaps fortunately, went into half time a goal up.

With 15 minutes to play Wes Thomas, coming after Patrick had been denied a second by the crossbar, followed up to beat Colin Doyle after the goalkeeper had kept out Gino Van Kessel's initial effort - Oxford looked to have won it when Joe Rothwell second a second three minutes from time.

A point was rescued in the fourth minute of added time when Vincelot headed home a Nicky Law cross.

Stuart McCall thought City 'looked reasonably comfortable' until Oxford scored with the battling qualities shown doing enough to secure a point with four points from games against the U's and Peterborough pleasing him.

'I'm delighted with the effort, commitment and quality of the lads tonight (Tuesday). Another positive performance after Saturday (vs Peterborough United) and four points from two tough away games. The spirit and togetherness of the lads was there for all to see at the end, none more so than from our captain (Romain Vincelot),' he told the Official Website.

Adding: 'His leveller came in almost the same place where he probably should have got a penalty in the dying seconds of last season's game here at Oxford.'

Defeat wouldn't have been just for City in the eyes of McCall, who feels there were plenty of positives for the Bantams to take from the game.

He said: 'For the effort the lads put in, it would have been so harsh not to have taken anything. It is a great feeling to get this result. The togetherness and the spirit on show from the lads, plus the good attacking football, meant there was plenty of positive things to take from this game. We're looking more like a team now.'
