The night drew to a close for most

The night drew to a close for most

It wasn't a result to write home about, but on a night where only 4 home teams won in the division, every other game ended in a draw, especially from the teams around us.

A night of draws
8 games ended in stalemate on Tuesday night in League 1 which means the gap hasn't altered between City and Oxford, Charlton, Wigan, Fleetwood, Peterborough, and Blackburn. In fact only 2 teams in the top 16 actually won, Shrewsbury who now sit 7 points clear of City and Blackpool who have jumped up to 7th and 5 points behind the Bantams. Which came as a bit of a shock, Rotherham lost their encounter with Wimbledon and drop to 3 points in the table behind City. Thankfully with the results practically everywhere else, we still sit in 3rd, we move a further point ahead of Rotherham in 4th and our position is exactly the same before kick off to 2nd placed Wigan, 5 points.

Promising start
Paul Taylor scored his 2nd goal of the season in only his 2nd league start for City getting his name on the score board only after 3 minutes. Just the start we needed against a team that have won their previous 4 games. A drive assisted from Nicky Law into the top right corner which an unsuspecting Johnny Placide had very little chance to save.

Then the usual story happens, we concede and throw a lead away. Doyle manages to get past Doyle on 23 minutes. Assisted by Cameron Dummigan, Eoin Doyle slotted the ball into the bottom right from the centre of the box. This now means our once impressive form has now whittled down to 2 wins in our past 5 games. But over the years, I've come to realise October just isn't a good month for Bradford City, it rarely has been.

Card watch
Romain Vincelot (73) - 5th yellow also has 1 red card
Adam Thompson (79) - 1st yellow card
Charlie Wyke (84) - 1st yellow card

Ref watch
Christopher Sarginson didn't really have his best game, what may have been apt we should have had the Benny Hill theme tune blaring out on the tanoy system as he ran about the pitch looking for players to book, maybe this will become his tune at future games. This is the 2nd City game Sarginson officiated having also oversaw the Oxford 2-2 away draw in which he booked 1 Oxford player. At Valley Parade 6 yellows were dished out, 3 to each team late on in the game which means in 14 games Sarginson has handed out 39 yellows and 2 reds.
