What's going on with the exes? 15-1-18

All ain't rosy at Valley Parade, we've had a couple of massive disappointments of late, all against struggling teams, but football carries on regardless. But what about some ex Bantams? What's been happening recently to some old faces, is it all doom and gloom, or have some exes made some strides this new year?

James Hanson made his debut for Bury lasting the full game in League 2. It wasn't a fairy tale weekend for the ex CO-OP shelf stacker. Mark Marshall scored the winner as Charlton Athletic won 0-1. Marshall scored for the 2nd time this season, and his first away goal since coincidentally when Bradford won away last season 0-2 at Bury. Greg Leigh played for the Bury, just as he did in that 0-2 loss to Bradford last season, the result leaves Athletic 6th in the table, 5 points behind the Bantams whilst Bury are 5 points adrift at the bottom of the table. Hanson can still be decisive in his former club, Bradford City this season, can he take points off teams at the top, and will he score at Valley Parade in February?

Billy Knott has joined League 1's Rochdale on loan from League 2's Lincoln City this past week for the rest of the season. Including Knott's loan spell, he made 34 appearances for the Imps scoring three times since Feb 2017. Knott featured for the Dale this past weekend coming on in the 70th minute where the score was already 2-1 which proved to be the result. The Dale sit 2nd from bottom in 23rd, 7 points from safety.

Francois Zoko put Bradford City's last week's conquerors, Yeovil Town 0-1 up away at Port Vale, the game ending 1-1. Ryan Dickson also featured for the Glovers. Yeovil are now 21st in League 2, 5 points above the relegation zone. Zoko has now hit double figures of 10 this season.

Matt Urwin kept a clean sheet as Chorley won 0-2 away to Curzon Ashton in the National League North. Chorley lift to 9th in the table, only 2 points off the play offs.

Nahki Wells came on as a late sub yet again, this time on 85 minutes as Burnley lost away to Crystal Palace 1-0. Wells has 4 Premiership appearances to his name and the result leaves the Clarets in 7th and 10 points off the top 4.

Jon Stead put Notts County 0-1 up away to Lincoln City, the result ending 2-2. Stead now has 8 goals to his name this season and the draw has the Magpies in 2nd in League 2, 3 points off top placed Luton Town.

Mark Bower had a tough weekend as Bradford Park Avenue manager as they lost 2-1 away to York who have now displaced the Bradford club in the play off spots. Avenue now have exchanged places with the Minstermen dropping from 7th to 8th in the National League North. Most of Avenue's opponents have a game in hand, but Bower has still changed relegation favourites to promotion outsiders. I feel the season is far from over for Bower and Avenue.

Oliver McBurnie made only his 2nd start in the Premiership as Swansea City drew 1-1 away to Newcastle United in the Premiership. McBurnie was selected ahead of Wilfried Bony who Swansea only recently paid £12m for last August and commanding a fee of £28m only 3 years ago. City trail at the bottom in 20th, 4 points from safety.

Kevin Ellison put Morecambe 1-0 up with his 8th goal of the current campaign, but the Shrimps drew 1-1 at home to Stevenage in League 2. The point has Morecambe in 19th in the table, 6 points above the relegation zone.

Zavon Hines helped cause a bit of a shock, in his home debut for his new club, Chesterfield helping them win 2-0 at home to Luton Town. Hines was subbed on 82 minutes and the Spireites are 22nd in League 2, 4 from bottom and 1 point above the relegation zone. Could Hines prove the difference for the Spireites this season?
