I didn't think we'd get anywhere near this number. And honestly I don't think anyone in seriousness could have predicted just how well the season ticket offer would have gone. Congratulations are in order to the 38% of Vital Bradford visitors that voted we would get between 10 and 15 thousand. Look out for a new poll in the next few days.
Earlier in the month it looked like sales were slowing down but in the last fortnight we have sold an absolutely staggering amount of tickets. Julian Rhodes and Mark Lawn enjoyed some good banter with the team just down the road in suggesting we could be bigger than them. Last I heard they'd only sold 10,000. Poor old Leeds, as if things weren't bad enough!
A quick estimate suggests that on this showing, if all holders come to all games, there won't be many seats to be had in the covered parts of Sunwin and the Kop or the Midland Road stand.
An earlier discussion on Claret & Banter flagged up the fact that since our descent from the Premier league we have lost 45% of our home fixtures. Hopefully this season will make a welcome change.
Our average gate last season was 8,264. An extra 4,000 people are guaranteed to be inside the ground (on paper). Whether everyone turns up every week or not the quality of the support at Valley Parade should not be in question.
It won't happen overnight, so let's give them time and roar the lads on to make Valley Parade the fortress it should be!
