'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ex Bradford City quintet move on

Former Bradford City player Joe Brown has joined Bradford Park Avenue on a temporary basis. Brown who was released by Bantams ex-caretaker manager David Wetherall during the close season has been on trial at York City and Halifax Town as well as training with a couple of league clubs during the summer but has yet to earn himself a contract for a professional club.
Park Avenue manager Benny Phillips explained to the Telegraph & Argus 'We have so many injuries among our forwards that we have signed Joe as cover, it is open-ended - he is doing us a favour and we are doing him one in return. We are offering him a chance to stay in the shop window, giving him regular training and maintaining his match sharpness at a very decent level.'
Joe Brown is still hoping to earn a full time contract at a higher level club as Benny Phillips clarified 'It is often the case when a player gets released by a League club, they can't get fixed up with another full-time outfit straight away. It doesn't mean they are not good enough it is just a case of timing.'
Brown joins fellow former Bantams Jon Worsnop (former Bradford City youth team keeper and former non league lethal striker), Kevin Sanasy, Tony Clegg and Liam Flynn.

Meanwhile long serving Bantams youth and reserve team right back
Jonathan Swift has joined legendary ex-City manager Terry Dolan's Guiseley AFC. 22 year old Swift joins fellow ex-Bantams Sam Denton and Danny Ellis and made his debut in the midweek 2-0 win over Ossett Town. Also joining Guiseley this week is 19 year old Patrice Liburd who spent last season at Nottingham Forest after being released from the Bradford City centre of excellence. Liburd is expected to make his Guiseley debut at the weekend.

Finally, Nick Smith and Patrick McGuire are yet to make their Blue Square Premier debuts for Farsley Celtic following their summer signings from Bradford City. The pair join a host of former Bantams: Chris Stabb, Damian Dunne, Amjad Iqbal and of course Gareth Grant at Farsley. Smith scored in the reserves this week and is pushing for a spot in the first team following their mixed start to the campaign (Win, Loss, Loss), while McGuire is out injured following an impressive display in the pre season friendly against former employers Bradford City.
